Review Apple Magic Mouse is it worth 70.00 ?

get them in. I was checking every other day to see if they received any. Orders online started to ship and I was doubting my decision to buy locally. On October 30th the local apple store finally got them in, I stopped by after work and the apple employee told me they had gone through nine cases so far. He said it was the fastest selling apple product he had seen even fast than the iphone had sold at launch. After swiping my plastic and 73 dollars and change later I was off to sync my new mouse with my Mac Pro.

Once home I took a few pictures of the great packaging. How simplisticMagic Mouse Packaging the package is. I really did not even want to open it. Inside the little clear box is the mouse with 2 AA batteries installed, Apple stickers of course and a small instruction sheet. In order to sync the new mouse with my early 2008 Mac Pro I had to download the mouse software from apple since 10.6.2 was not out yet. After downloading the software rebooting the cpu, syncing and setup was just as easy as sunday morning. Here are the things I like about the magic mouse. I really like the touch scrolling works perfect with no little ball to stop working after a while. I also like the control zoom feature makes enlarging print a snap or a swipe in the case. The laser tracking works very well with no lag. This mouse is probably the smallest desktop mouse I have used and after a month it is still taking time to get used too. Here is what I miss about the mighty mouse, I miss the side buttons where i could program them to use dashboard or expose. I really miss having the extra buttons. My kids however like the lack of buttons since they were always activated dashboard or expose by mistake. The other thing I do really like is the shape of the mouse it is seems very small and low for a desktop mouse. For big hands the mouse seems very small and a little uncomfortable but you get used to it after a while.

Magic Mouse bottom Overall the magic mouse is worth the 70.00 just for the multi- touch features. If you need a mouse that has a lot of extra  buttons or one that is  ergonomic  then you should look for a different mouse.  After some research I found a free 3rd party program to help adding a 3rd button to the magic mouse. You could use it to enable expose or dashboard. This seems to work only with Snow leopard find it here.
